Sweet Sue’s is opening again for Labor Day weekend, is what I’m reading. As far as the hair? It got washed with cold rainwater from a big container we set out as no tub in the house yould hold water! : ) It was not, shall we say..pretty. Thanks Mike.

See, my mom said “If you can see the ocean from your window, you need to leave” Simple.
My friends and family outside the state called/texted me with one question: “Have you evac’d yet?” The third time I was asked, I checked the maps again to check which zone I was in. I was fine.
Plus I cannot see the ocean from my apartment.
And yes, you need to be alive to work. That’s a good philosophy.
I’m glad you and your family are safe and sound.

You are one smart lady, Sueanne. Yeah, you absolutely must be alive to work.

I spent most of the weekend at a high school evacuation center in NYC, where I was both a resident and a volunteer. I live in one of those high-probability-of-going-out-with-the-tide Zone A neighborhoods. So does my Dad. We both evacuated on the premise that we’d much rather return Sunday night wondering what all the fuss was about than cower in a flooding house at 3:00 am, realizing it would be too late and too dangerous to leave.

So what did it cost us, really? A lost weekend, a few extra cans of tuna… Small things when compared to the risk if Irene had taken a different path. Ask the folks in Windham if it’s better to be safe than sorry.

I commend the local authorities for executing their coastal storm plans. That it turned out “not so bad” here is a tribute to good planning, not merely a stroke of luck.

That’s true but had I stayed downstate I wouldn’t have been able to pick mushrooms the size of my head and bowl with them. I didn’t put that in the blog. I was waiting for eomment section. It’s a challenge because they are mushy. #bowlingwithfungii
